Process for updating passports
Many post offices and even some public libraries can accept passport applications. Mail your completed application, including your most recent passport, name change document (if applicable), photo, and fees, to one of the addresses below.
Look up current passport fees and write a check for the stated amount. Accepted checks include personal checks, cashier checks, certified checks or travelers checks. Passport processing times change and can be viewed on the Department of State website.
If renewing your passport by mail, include a check or money order made payable to the U. Send the expired passport, passport application with photograph, check and proof of name change (if applicable) to the U. To expedite a passport, an expedite fee of can be included with the application.
Those cases may require additional processing time.
